Pneumatic rifles

In a pneumatic rifle, given no restriction on propellant gas/air cylinder size or cylinder pressure (even if the cylinder is too big to be hidden inside but must be visible), how does maximum power per shot compare with a full-powered rifle powered as usual by explosive-powered cartridges? (As regards possible air pressures, I have heard that some modern scuba cylinders can take 300 bar/atmospheres of pressure.)

The old pump up air rifles are nothing to scoff at. I wouldn't want to be shot with one. The newer air rifles are deadly. The cutting edge PCP rifles are some serious hardware. The PCP uses a detached air cylinder to charge the rifle. You can look on Youtube and see video's of people using air rifles to hunt Cape Buffalo and Wildebeest. Ground hogs, rabbit and coyote are common prey to an air rifle too.
