Indiana has a License to Carry a Handgun (Commonly abbreviated LTCH).
One may carry openly or concealed with an LTCH and may not carry at all without one. http://www.in.gov/legislative/ic/code/title35/ar47/ch2.html

Indiana law does not differentiate between concealed and open carry of a handgun.

a Lifetime LTCH is available (does not expire, but may be revoked for conviction of a felony, etc)

One may carry or transport a loaded long gun with or without LTCH. There are no laws prohibiting having a loaded long gun in your vehicle or on your person, concealed or in the open.

Prohibited places: Schools, property being used by a school for a school function, riverboat casino, secure area of airport and commercial airplanes, courthouse, building that houses a courtroom.
Not prohibited places: bars, banks, parks, movie theaters, fire houses, church (unless also school property), grocery stores, gas stations, pet stores...


Reciprocity: Indiana recognizes all licenses issued by state or foreign government according to the terms thereof, but only while the holder is not a resident of Indiana. (interpretation: do not carry on an expired license. If your license says you may only carry S&W serial no 12345, do not carry Ruger serial no 54321. Indiana law does not address "No guns" signs. If you are asked to leave, then leave.

There are no magazine capacity restrictions or "assault weapons" bans. IC 35-47-5-4.1 details a ban on "sawed-off shotguns." That is any shotgun with a barrel less than 18", whether you have the federal tax stamp or not.

I just posted that as an example for some states that have that sort of restriction. Hence the "If" at the beginning of the sentence. In Texas, for example, your license may be an NSA license. If you have an NSA license, you may not carry a semi-automatic handgun. In New York State, you are required to have your handgun listed by serial number on your license.

If you don't have those restrictions on your license, then those restrictions don't apply to you.
