WW2 German Riffle, looking for more information.

Hello, thanks for reading my post. This week was my birthday and to my surprise, my father gave me a riffle that was handed down to him by his father (who passed about the time I was born). Simply put, I really don’t know much information about it and anything you can pass along would be greatly appreciated. Talking with my father, he was told by his dad that there was something special about this gun, something to do with the serial numbers on the bolt or something like that. I pulled the bold and did not see any numbers that would indicate or look like a serial. It did indeed bring goosebumps seeing the swastika and just holding the riffle is quite chilling.

My grandfather served in WW2 and before his death was one of the largest gun collectors in the West Coast. Out of all the weapons and even a tank in his collection, this weapon is the only remaining piece of his legacy. Unfortunately, my father does not really know much of the history either, however it is indeed in remarkable firing condition.

Thanks for your time!

Dear Orian

I'm no gun-expert either, but, with the rifle being so old, maybe the parts are "matching numbers", meaning no part was ever replaced.
