I had a permit for a while, but I'm in an open-carry state so it's kind of moot here. You can carry openly or concealed pretty much anywhere but government offices and schools and a few other exceptions. The only real benefit IS reciprocity.

The constitution allows the states to determine how guns are carried.

"The right of the people to keep and bare arms shall not be infringed."

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the meaning of the word infringed.
