Out of control cops at it again.

All these "isolated incidents" are adding up to look like a trend.

Hey man, it's no secret that there are an alarming number of cops out there that think they can do whatever they want and no one will ever stand up for themselves. Part of that is because in the legal system it takes a lot of money to stand up for yourself.

Professionalism is quickly being replaced for arrogance in law enforcement.

How about this recent case..happy triggered cops.

The city of Los Angeles reached a $4.2 million settlement on injury claims by two women who were injured when police mistakenly opened fire on them during the manhunt for disgruntled ex-cop Christopher Dorner, an official said Tuesday.

City Attorney Carmen Trutanich announced the sum to KNBC-TV Los Angeles, and an attorney representing the women confirmed the amount to The Associated Press.

The settlement must still be approved by the Los Angeles City Council.

Margie Carranza and her 71-year-old mother, Emma Hernandez, were delivering papers around 5 a.m. on Feb. 7 when LAPD officers blasted at least 100 rounds at their pickup.

Hernandez was shot in the back and Carranza had minor injuries.

The settlement means they cannot pursue any future injury claims against the city.

Attorney Glen Jonas, who represents the women, called the amount fair and said it spared the city from defending a case that involved eight police officers and would have likely cost millions of dollars.

"The only certainty was the litigation was going to cost everyone a lot of money and a lot of time," Jonas said.

I LOVE the title of that article.

Actually I think the entire situation was handled excellently by the officers right up to when he started popping rounds off. He was obviously going for the tires but unnecessary in my opinion.

The first officer should have tazed the kid much earlier.

Check out another out-of-control situation..two officers now under investigation for the shooting.

Police shoot at minivan full of kids after traffic stop gets heated | syracuse.com[/QUOTE]

Up Date:

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico State Police officer who fired shots at a minivan full of children during a chaotic October traffic stop has been fired, a spokesman with the law enforcement agency said Friday.

Lt. Emmanuel Gutierrez, a State Police spokesman, said he confirmed with State Police Chief Pete Kassetas that Officer Elias Montoya was no longer employed by the department. Montoya's termination was effective at 5 p.m. Friday.

Montoya has 30 days to appeal his firing to the Public Safety Advisory Commission, which is made up of civilians appointed by the governor. Montoya, who had been with the department for about 12 years, doesn't have a listed phone number.

The officer was placed on administrative leave with pay earlier this week following an investigation into the shooting outside the northern New Mexico tourist town of Taos. On Tuesday, he was notified that the agency proposed to fire him, and Kassetas, in consultation with Department of Public Safety Secretary Gorden Eden, made the final decision after a disciplinary hearing Thursday.

That cop was a real dickweed..he will be lucky to get a job as mall security. That other cop who busted the van window with his night stick should be suspended too.

YouTube has pulled the video link from the article:think:

It seems to be another case of "bullets over brains."
They had her information already, why not just pick her up latter instead of shooting?

Edit, here is a new link

I think everything the cops did was all good to include busting the window out. Everything except the actual shooting at the van.
