Concealed carry holsters

What type of holster do you use? What do you like about it? what do you not like about it? Would you recommend it? Are there holsters you have tried that didn't work out?

I have an Old Faithful IWB holster. It is a leather/kydex hybrid similar to a Crossbreed. It is tuckable and adjustable. I have never tucked my shirt in while carrying though. I have been happy with it and IMO, it is a very good bargain. I used to wear it about 5:00 but then switched and now wear it at 3:00 which I feel is a much better way to carry.

High Noon Down Under with straps.

It makes even a big pistol like my CZ SP-01 Phantom disappear under something as light as an untucked t-shirt, with the VERY helpful addition of a High Noon Rock Steady gun belt.

Also available in a clip model, but not like the junky clips you find on Uncle Mikes rigs - these J-hooks work GREAT!

That's not a bend in the metal in the last pic - it's a reflection in the high polish. ;)

Holsters i tired that didn't work? Anything cheap and nylon usually falls in that category. After I switched to High Noon, I had no further holster related problems.

I will be keeping an eye on this thread. Info I'm really wanting to see should be stacking up in here. Taking the course for concealed carry soon and looking for a good holster.

I have an Uncle Mikes IWB that's toted my .40 for at least 10 years. It's showing some wear and needs to be replaced, but I've never had an issue with it. Its comfortable against my skin, which is important for regular carry.

Something I use a whole lot is Thunderwear. I used to have a knock-off brand, but it wore out fast. I met the guy who patented TW at a gun show - good guy & I'm happy to support him even if it costs more. The TW brand has worn considerably better.

I carry my Kimber in a Remora Tuckable size 12 with sweat shield.

I carry at about 2 O'clock (appendix carry).

I like the Remora. I stays put with or without the clip. I have carried tucked, you just have to blouse the shirt a little.
I just got a new Amish Leather belt from Hank's Clothing and am planning to experiment with the 3 o'clock carry... It will be a couple of weeks before I can report back on it though, I am currently in right wing country... :yucky:

Cobra Gunskin for my XD9 sub. It's a leather encased kydex holster. Very good retention. If I had any complaint about it, I wish it rode a little lower. But that's it.

I like the look of that high noon holster. It's harder to decide on the holster than deciding on the gun!

When it comes to carry, you need a holster wardrobe for different times of the year (weather changes), different activities of the day and different fitting clothes.

I got some links here to help. Any questions let us know.

Thanks, Justin! Reading through that takes a little of the anxiety out of purchasing. I'm going to make a list of my concealment needs and look into it that way. May be getting an email from me pretty soon!

I ordered a holster from the "HOLSTER STORE" it's not a pun that is their name. I Carry from the left side which generally causes some problems. I bought their IWB holster for my LC9. I ordered the holster cut with the room for the trigger housing add on laser. I don't have a laser (yet) but may buy one in the future. My only reason for considering a laser would be for the wife. I feel that lasers are like GPS units they're great to use, but you can become over dependent on them.

Just a thought, none of our holsters made for the trigger guard lasers will even come close to fitting the gun without the laser. Its a bad fit.

Its impossible for both to fit one holster, your stop point is your trigger guard. The laser adds to the trigger guard.

I would check that fit, your gun without laser will sit to deep, be a loose fit, will be covering mag catches and may not give you a combat grip.

I got the Cell Pal for my XDs.

Very comfortable, but takes a bit of work and practice to get the draw down to a reasonable time...
(Just be sure to practice your draw with either and empty gun, or snap caps until you have it down.)

It depends on the gun.
For my XD40 service and subcompact, a Desantis softuck. It works with every pair of pants and shirt I own (except running shorts, which I wear only when running). So, everything I wear in public.
S&W 327PC in a speed scabbard.
Ruger GP100 in a galco thumb break holster
My wife has an ankle holster and a thigh holster from thewellarmedwoman.com that work for either her LCR22 or Beretta Tomcat. I also have a pocket holster and a softuck for the tomcat.
We just got a Pride Holsters PH10 for the LCR22 a couple days ago. It's quite comfortable. http://prideholsters.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2&redirected=1&Itemid=2
