This just keeps getting better and better. Whatever the problem of the day is, they have an answer.

They don't even know for sure what was used in the bombs but they're ready to make you jump through hoops to get powder. It's tough enough to find ammo these days and now they want to make it difficult to make your own.

In the wake of the deadly bombing attacks in Boston, U.S. Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) today announced that he will reintroduce legislation he has proposed in a prior Congress to require that sales of explosive powder be subject to a background check. He will also file the legislation as an amendment to the gun violence prevention bill currently on the Senate floor.

What a moron.

Does he think that a background check would have even been a speed bump for these guys? The FBI knew about them 2 years ago but couldn't get anything on them.

He must think that a background check will ascertain whether the buyer intends to commit a crime with the product.

Also, this attempt makes it clear that the anti-"assault weapon" argument (not good for hunting, founding fathers didn't anticipate them) is an obvious sham. The founding fathers used black powder exclusively, and it is still extensively used for hunting (though there is still a bit of black powder recreational shooting done).

I can also see all fireworks being completely banned in the future too..except for registered and trained authorites.

When guns are not available we will beat them with pitch forks shovels and rakes. The man who beats his sword into a plow will plow for the man who does not. It is not about guns, it is about control.

Lautenberg is right up there with Schumer and the Kennedys in the pantheon of the Senators that have done the most damage to our republic during their careers.
