Just busy as hell trying to get the house back together and deal with other life issues.
I think I've decided every May that end in a 3 of the year, I'm going on vacation to Australia for the month. I moved to Moore, OK in Dec of 90. Every 10 years there has been a major event, and I think I'm sick of it. I'm actually becoming an expert on how to handle natural disasters.
May 8, 93 Flash Flooding in S. OKC. My bro at age 26 tried to save a lady her 8yo who got swept into Brock Creek. Their bodies including my bro, were found in the Canadiam River 6 days later when the water level receeded.
May 3, 99 (The oddball year) F5 tornado took out 1/3 of Moore incuding my mother's house and light damage to my house. The year the highest wind speed ever recorded on earth over 300+ mph. Google if you'd like.
May 8th, 2003 F4 Hit Moore, and took almost the same path as May 3, 99 tornado and took out about 20% of Moore, not quite near as bad as May 3, 99 though since it was not as intense and not near as wide. Easy to remember though cuz it was the 10th year anniversary of my bro's death in the flood. That one did spare all my families homes.
May 20,2013 Thought I'd never ever see another EF5 Tornado in my life, especially right here in Moore. EF5 tornados are like 100 year tornadoss. That last F5 tornado that hit in OK before the May 3rd 99 tornado was in Woodward, OK way up NW, OK nowhere near Moore/S. OKC 40 years prior. And to have 2 EF5's in 14 years to hit the same city... just about unheard of. And of course that one missed me from a leveling direct hit by 2 streets and just did damage to my house.
But, look at the dates, every 10 years and all in May. Ironic or what???
Than add insult to injury, May 31st, 2013, the Record Breaking 2.3 mile wide EF5 tornado to hit El Reno, OK, and 2 more little F1 tornados touched down in Moore that night too. The worse part was the 50 minutes of the sustained 70mph straight line winds with gusts to 87 mph. That did hurricane like damage with flooding throughout areas of the state and took even more lives than May 20th, 2013, some tornado related, and most Flood related cuz people were sheltering in drainage ditches from the high winds and tornados. There were like 5 different tornadoes on the ground in the Metro OKC area all at once.
