I don't think there are any other members but me. I survived it. Barely. It missed me in a direct hit and leveling my house by about 200 yards. 2 streets over is leveled. You can look in either direction and see flat as far as your eyes can see.

If you can tolerate the foul lingo and interested.... Yes, I feel lucky. Me and god had a talk, during and after !!! It's rough going now, and I won't be on much for awhile. I am on generator power at the moment. My router is plugged into a UPS back up getting charged, so for what it's worth. I'll check in when I can.

Wow.....I've never experienced devastation like that first hand. We did have an F5 in '96 that destroyed a town (Oakfield Wi.) 15 miles from where we live, but it never made it this far.

Glad you and your family are safe, and my heart and prayers go out to those who were not as fortunate.

I have seen a sight like that once and I hope it stays that way. A friend of ours was one of many that lost their homes to the storm but fortunately, she and her family didn't also lose their lives. I am glad that you and your family faired better. :)

I heard they are working on legislation to ban tornadoes or at least strengthen the back ground checks on them.

WARNING NEGATIVE RANT !!! So if you're an Ovamit fan, DO NOT READ !!!

Is it me just having a bad attitude or is anyone else finding that the overwhelming amount of authority is hurthing us more than helping??? We have tons of Nat Guardsmen hanging out at Roadblocks sitting on their ass or their Hum V, chewing the fat, laughing and joking having a good ole time with each other waving everyone away from their home. But of course they've got mountains of bottle water and plenty of strofoam food trays from places like Rib Crib and Red Cross. And then its some punk ass kid treating you like your a damn criminal when you explain you have a house and no downed power lines at all. And when you tell him, I just drove out this way, and YOU told me I could get back in and now I can't? WTF? They're not clearing roads or removing rubble and debris, or delivering food and water to those who are without power and water. OK has been here before and do just fine. WTH do we Homeland Security here for? Obama, take your pigs home. This isn't IRAQ, it's Oklahoma and the residents damn sure shouldn't be treated that way. But it's for my own safety to keep looters out. MY ASS !!!! Let the damn people get to their homes with their ID and addresss on it, then I DARE A FUGGIN LOOTER to be caught. He'll want to be locked in jail just to be protected from the residents I"ll assure you. I think we need a roll back to May 3rd 99 and do WHAT WORKS and WHAT DID WORK. This is ridiculous !!! Oh Wait, Obama promised help didn't he??? So that's why it's riduclous. Shit does indeed roll down hill !!! We don't need road blocks Obama. We don't need your worthless punk bullies here eating donated food and drinking water for those who need it. I know I know, just a bad attitude right??? Anyone want to see my Voter Registration Card??? Anyone want to guess what party I'm registered as???

STF, I hate to say it but one Demonrat senator, (Sheldon Whitehouse, D-RI), has already hit the Senate floor and accused Republicans who stand in the way of "doing something" about "global warming" to be directly responsible for the tornadoes...
Good to see you're OK, sir, thanks for the video.

I guess everyone watches the news. As if Monday May 20th wasn't bad enough.. Friday May 31st was another eventful afternoon.

Friday night was some crazy stuff. I think I had a bit of fear in me Friday night. Monday was no big deal to me, even though I watched that big ass tornado come right at me and miss me with a direct hit by about 1/8 mile, or 2 streets over. The thing about Friday night was 70mph sustained straight line winds with gusts to 87 mph. That lasted for about 45 minutes or longer. More like what hurricane type storm would do IMO. It wasn't a matter of who it was hitting cuz we all got it. Had just got the yard cleaned up from May 20th and it looked just as bad after May 31st, and what May 20th didn't take down, May 31st finished off. Kinda sucked. So now I have 2 different insurance claims with 2 different deductibles since they are both different Dates of Loss. :flipthebird: Yeah, it really sucks and my insurance company is moving very slow. I still don't even have any funds to get started on repairs.

That sucks

Damn sure does. And I haven't even gotten funds yet to start the first set of repairs yet because the insurance company is dragging their ass. Of course my neighbors are rocking on their repairs.

Just curious. Has anyone ever heard of being required to hire a General Contractor to do your tornado repair work on your house by your insurance company? I did question this, since my insurance company took 6 days to come out, then another week to put the claim together, and that's after I went to their RV response team at the church to get the ball rolling. So it's been over 2 weeks, still no funds to start repairs with my dogs stuck in the house and the neighbors dogs in my yard, and missing windows so everytime it rains I get more water in the house and so much dirt flying around I won't even start to paint and have dirt stuck in my paint. Now that's it's been 2 weeks the contractors I have contacted to do some of things are booked up, so take a # and get in line. So I asked about doing the work myself. Sure you can do that, you're NOT required to get a contractor, we just pay less.

Bullshit, you paid them what you owed and now they owe you for the damage. How you use it is entirely up to you.

When Hurricane Ike did damage to my previous house I did a lot of the repairs myself. My insurance company never questioned where or how the money was spent. I actually found other issues caused by the storm and they sent the adjuster back out and wrote another check. No questions asked

That's the way it was in May 3rd 99 tornado when we had over 300 mph winds. They wrote me a check, I did all the work including strip the roof, then had a roofer put new felt and shingles on. He was the only guy I paid. And they even paid me another $600 for the tear off cuz I told them there was 2 layers. There really was too. I took picks of it in 2 different places where it was obvious there was 2 layers, mailed in the pics, 5 days later, had another check for $600.00. No problems. I covered my deductible by doing my own work, and got keep $1000 that I used for upgrades on the house like turbines on the roof and upgraded the windows. NO problems.
