Been giving the log splitter a workout. My parents had a couple large trees dropped. Been cutting and splitting like a mad man. Still have a bunch to do. Heck, I'm still working on trees that came down in the ice storm we had.

Yeah I'm glad I don't have to deal with that here in Florida. All I wear is jeans an undershirt and a hoodie....lol

Well just kick me in the shin why don't you. You just wait, they're predicting a colder than normal winter and you may even need a pair of gloves.

My father picked up one of those JawSaws and is going to town with it. He's been reducing a pile of branches to kindling for me. I took my yard trailer over there today and started loading it up. If the weather stays decent I'll bring it back over here and unload it tomorrow then take it back for a refill.

I just like having a backup plan in case we lose power. We will still be able to take the chill off if need be. Just something about being self sufficient that is rewarding. Not having to depend on anyone else.

Was out tweaking the woodshed today. Built a kindling wood box and some shelves to keep all my lumberjack stuff on. Ahhhh......I can feel the warmth of the fire already. :favorites37:

Need a set of hooks and a tool belt.

I wear a 30lb. tool belt Mon.-Fri. Not wearing one on the weekend. I also do all my lumberjack work on the ground. I have no business up in a tree. That's why you don't see any rope or climbing gear.

And they're forecasting a low of 38 degrees tonight. My wood stove won't be ready until the middle of the week.

Mine still hangs in my shed but it is lonely. Stihl works well but getting one with a30" bar 16" not enough. Wish I had my super whiz still.

The Farm Boss has an 18" bar. I think the other one is a 14 to 16" bar. So far that's all I've needed.

A widow gave me the smaller saw. I had gone to do some garage door work for her and she asked me if I wanted it. It was her late husbands and she wasn't going to use it. How can anyone refuse a free Stihl?

So her door was fixed for free. I've been back a few more times for other issues and still won't charge her.

About 9 years ago I was in Orlando and it was the first freeze in over 50 years. I was wearing jeans and a hoodie and didn't take long for the hoodie to get hot and switched for a t-shirt. The yankees were walking around in shorts and sandals. The locals, however, were dressed for an expedition to the north pole. We are talking bibs, heavy coats, insulated boots, heavy gloves, stocking caps, scarves, & still shaking like a leaf. It was quite a sight.

That must have been the year we went to Disney World and then took a Disney cruise. The weather had been great. It had been shorts and t-shirt weather the entire time. We arrived back at Port Canaveral the morning of our last day. Went from the room to breakfast then back to the room to finish packing then to disembark the ship. It was 40 something degrees out and we had a 3/4 mile hike to the car. In shorts and a t-shirt. We were lugging our suit cases with us but nobody wanted to stop long enough to dig any extra clothing out. We were shaking like leaves. It was miserable.

The ice storm of 89 was a bitch. Power system build to with stand wind storms could not handle ice. I had 4" of water frozen in the bottom of my bucket truck. Gainesville was on curfew from 2000 till o600 hrs. for 4 days. Power out here for 12 days.

Yeah, I had been using files up until now. I have a feeling my chains will be much more consistent with the new electric sharpener. But I still have my files as a backup.
