Clarification!!

Wasn't sure where to put this so it's going here. When describing a scope (if its variable power) you put a dash for the zoom like 3-9 or maybe you've got a little more magnification like a 4-12. After that its the objective size (which is generally in millimeters) , that is the diameter of the glass that's on the end. Put it all together and it should look like this. 4-12x40 or 3-9x40.

Sorry I'm venting cuz I'm tired of seeing 3x9x40, and such.

I've seen that too. Like they are measuring lumber or something. It can confuse people who are new to scopes and guns.
