AR gas tube lengths

Anyone want to school me on how to measure for the length I would need?

I thought I had it figured out and ordered a gas tube a while back. Now I have a supposed mid length tube that's way too long.

There are 4 size gas tubes:
- Pistol length = 7.5"
- Carbine length = 9.75"
- Mid length = 11.75"
- Rifle length = 15.125"

To determine which you need, measure from the front of the upper receiver / barrel nut to the beginning of the gas block:
- Pistol length measurement = 3.5" - 4"
- Carbine length measurement = 6.5" - 7"
- Mid length measurement = 8.5" - 9"
- Rifle length measurement = 11.5" - 12

Got a measurement of 7 1/4" from edge of upper receiver to edge of where the gas block mounts and 7 3/4" from receiver to gas port hole

That will run a carbine length tube. They are the most common.
