A query about flamethrowers

I apologise if this type of weapon is off-topic here, but a query arose about them.

I have seen many images of them, but it is not clear, if a man is wearing a backpack flamethrower, what he does with its nozzle / gun part when he needs his hands free to do something else.

Once in a scene from a fiction movie I saw a man wearing a US Army type flamethrower climbing down a ladder into a deep hole, and its gun part was across his belly tied on by cord going round his waist.

This previous thread may have solved it for the http://www.weaponsforum.com/f42/lifebuoy-wwii-british-flamethrower-2314/.

I have made some CGI models of flamethrowers (realistic, not videogame fantasy stuff) and in some of them I added a holster for its nozzle; but I have not seen such holsters in images of real flamethrowers.

This version is an M2A1-7 USA army flamethrower, from images that I found on the WWW.

I don't believe so. What you can do is get a free image host like Photobucket, image shack etc. and put your pictures there. The link the url to your post.

They were terrifying weapons both to the receivers and the carriers. Like carrying a five gallon can of gas in to war with you.
