2 issues, seems to me to be 1 problem

Mentally ill people don't just use guns to commit their crimes. they commit many crimes unarmed. Burglary, assault, rape, you name it. doesn't require a firearm. I'm doing what I can. I'm a therapist for adolescent criminals.

    im in deep dodo

Most of us vastly overestimate the ability of others to differentiate between firearms. Your wife knows you have "guns." She doesn't pay attention to what they are or what they look like. Just carry them in the house. When she asks, say "I've had it a while." Yesterday I was at a client's...

    Starbucks has caved under pressure

They are trying to play both sides of the field. Trying to make money from both sides. I don't go there more than a couple times a year, but the most recent times I have made it a point to thank them for respecting the individual's right to self defense. It's okay; any kind of coffee that...

    Proud Dad

Our kids don't go to a gov't run school. They go our church's school. :) Last year, his teacher asked me and my wife to take her and her husband shooting for his birthday. I brought a handful of guns, let them pay me a little bit for the ammo, and we all had a good time. We are very...

    Proud Dad

My 8-year old son came up to me tonight and said, "Dad, what's your favorite bill of rights?" I said, "You mean my favorite amendment to the constitution?" He said, "Yeah, mine's the right to keep and bear arms." Okay, so we have a little to work on, but he's going the right direction for sure.

    Hello - From Everywhere

Hey Connor, glad to have you here. We seem to have a lot in common: 33 years old, USMC/USN, non-drinker, and no panic in 2013. I'm not far from you, either. maybe 90 minutes away in South Bend. If you ever come to town, I'll buy you a cup of coffee and a stick of bubble gum.

    re boring a rifle barrel...

I'm not really familiar with the HR design...never been interested in it, but I know it's possible to cut a lot of barrels and set them back, then re-chamber. Is that not possible with the handirifle? It lists for only $360 for a complete rifle. Might just go at it that way and come out...

    springfield xd40 opinions

First, yes, it's a great gun. Very good caliber. Quality handgun. Here are my two: The larger is the XD40 service (4" barrel, 12 round magazine capacity); the smaller is subcompact (3" barrel, 9 round magazine). I've had the service since early 2007; the subcompact has been my daily carry...

    re boring a rifle barrel...

You're trying to do it backwards. It's much more common to rechamber a factory barrel to a caliber the same diameter as the donor barrel than to use a chamber and re-bore and rifle an existing barrel. For all that difficulty and expense, it'd be simpler to just buy a new complete rifle...

    M16 for longer distances?

There are a lot of pre-1986 M-16s available in the US, although the $20-30,000 price tag puts it out of the reach of most of us.

    M16 for longer distances?

With a 20" barrel and iron sights, 500 yards prone. Marine Corps doctrine says 550, but I never shot out that far. The service rifle matches shoot out to 1000 yards with the M16, but the target is bigger and the rifles are accurized & tuned for it.

    any thoughts on a 80%ER?

Yes, that's my point. 99.99999% of us already have a paper trail. If "They" come and think that you ever thought about buying a gun, they're not going to be turned away from your door with "no, I don't have any guns." The precedent is there with the "war on drugs." They don't care if you...

    any thoughts on a 80%ER?

It's too late. The NSA already knows. The only reason it would be useful is if you don't want the gov't to know you have a gun. If you have ever bought a gun from an FFL, ever been licensed to carry, ever visited a firearm-related website, ever subscribed to a gun rag, ever been a member of a...
