I stopped by my local law enforcement store a few days ago and was told they are having problems getting Glock ns in stock. I went on amazon and found my meprolight tru dots that my other glocks have. Need to borrow my buddies rear sight tool and put them on. Oh btw I got them 15 bucks cheaper online than at store where they were outta stock. Concealed 27

What brand?????

Truglo. I've already got a set on my XD9sc and they work great.

How about the Truglo Tritum/FiberOptics??? Anyone have an opinion or knowledge of the difference as far as being brighter or lasting longer? Appears to be a $20 upcharge to $79. Any advantage or disadvantage either way?

My last set on my G23 was Trijicon. I got just under 10 years out out them and when they went, they went. Almost makes me think I did something that may have broke them somehow. Although, I really never was extremely impressed with them. Seemed the dots were very small IMO.

I like the Truglo's. Mine are not the fiber optic one's. I have just the Tritium sights. When I have my pistol on the headboard, I can find it in the middle of the pitch dark night instead of having to hunt for it. I don't have any experience with the FO sights so I can't make a comparison.

i had the try glo tritium fiber optics, they glow during daytime...I had them on my g30. The disadvantage is sight radius. It shortens it cause the front sight is longer and is encased. I liked them....

I notice the FO ones seem to be about 1/3 longer too. Not so sure I like that about them either. Any idea how long those standard Tritium TruGlos last? Any idea how they hold up if you drop your gun? I hear that will break the Tritum capsule and can kill your sights. That might be what happened to my Trigicons.

I might just save the $20 and go for the shorter sights. $60 is worth a try I guess. Much better than the $110 I paid my Trigicons and never was really happy with them being small dots.

That's that Botach Tactical place where I got my Xgrips and KCI Glock mags for cheap, no tax, and no shipping that has these Tru Glos.

Tritiums $59.95 TOTAL
Tritium w FO $79.95 TOTAL

Thinking about a set of the Tritiums for the SW SD9VE too. One thing about that Cheap gun, I like it, but the sites are cheap plastic with painted dots. I could put metal M&P sights on it though sicne they are the same. But better yet, if switching it out anyway, and using it for a cheap home defender, why not just go with the TruGlo M&P sites in the first place? Make sense to anyone else? It's cheap gun, so I don't want to break the bank on expensive sights.

Since you install them by beating them into the sight groove I think it would be pretty difficult to break them.

I've actually seen tools used to press them on just so you don't have to beat on them to avoid breaking the Tritium Capsules.

That may work on Glocks and other guns but the XD's are tight. I've read where you could break a sight tool trying to budge them. I successfully changed out the XD9's in my shop. I think the XD40's will go about the same. A crowbar and a sledgehammer made things a bit easier.

I have seen a video where a guy uses a small brass drift and a hammer to do it. If I could do that, I'd sure be willing. Beats having to drive to gun shop where I had the last set installed. Drop it off, and have to go pick it up the next day. :flipthebird: It would now cost me about $12 in fuel for both trips, a day wo my gun and another $10 for intallation. I'd rather just do it myself.

I think I've let you guys talk me into the cheaper $59.95 TruGlo Standard Tritums for both my G23 and the SD9VE. Thanks Fellers !!! :waytogo:

I removed the slide off the gun. Locked it in a vise between tow pieces of wood so you don't mess up the slide. I didn't have a brass punch so I took a steel one and wrapped the end in duct tape and put a piece on the end so I wouldn't scar the old sight. Just started tapping away with the hammer until I saw movement. Eventually worked both front and rear out and installed new sights in reverse order. Everything turned out peachy.

hhmmmmmmmmmm

I gues I can do the scxdm .40 on my own then

Just be careful, take your time, protect it so that metal does not contact metal. That's why I insulated the steel punch with duct tape. To create a barrier around the end of the punch so that it never actually made contact with the slide or sight.

Whatever you get, I'd stay away from Meprolights. I put a set on my GP100. I love them now that they are on there. But installation was the hard part. I has to do some Dremel work on the to get them to fit.
