I've done some blacksmithing. It's fun and rewarding once your project is complete. It's also hot an dirty. My nephew was making a movie and needed a unique old time weapon. I made him a sickle out of a flat piece of metal. Heated and hammered the curve into the blade and put a turned wooden handle on it. I wish I had a picture of it.
I use a hammer well. Would like to forge much of my technology stuff into door stops. Knife makers and furriers are in most cases in good shape but wear out early.
I actually work with a guy that is a blacksmith as a hobby. He is a huge nerd as well hehe. He learned to be a smith so he could make Cos play items like masks and light saber handles. He likes it, but the neighbors don't like all the noise.
