Yes, it would be very "reasonable" to assume that someone referring to a semi as a 45 means ACP. lol :)

I agree, I'd sure think if someone was shooting .45GAP, they'd say so since it's so uncommon and .45 is just that as we know it, .45 ACP.

I don't think I'd step back to a 9mm if I didn't want to go with the .357Sig. I'd do like Fuzz suggested, get you a Glock or Sig .40S&W and buy you a barrel for .357Sig. When I bought my Glock 23, I was thinking of .357Sig or the .40. I talked my OSBI buddy, and MPD buddies and they were all shooting .40's so I knew it was more common, and the .40S&W was a little cheaper. I knew I was going either one though, cuz I knew I had the option of the barrel trick, and I like options. Also why I bought my .357 Mag Revolver instead of a .38. With the .357 I can shoot both .38 and .357. With the .40S&W, and a barrel, I can also shoot .357Sig. A couple of the MPD officers do shoot .357Sig, but they also have .40S&W barrels because the department requires them to have range time and test periodically. The dept supplies the .40S&W ammo but not .357Sig. So they do range time with the .40 and then they have to buy their own .357 to test with and to carry on the job and they can only carry what they test with.

I really like the 357 Sig. I have only shot the round in my Sig P229 so I can't tell you how well it odes or doesn't shoot in other pistols. I have found it to be very flat shooting and accurate as well.

9x23 is a long 9mm and 9x25 Dillon is long and fat. It is a necked down 10mm. It is a screamer.

Get a 40 cal gun and barrel it for 357 sig, great round .Or shoot 165 gr /40 cal about the same.As for 45 gap being not in use , the florida highway patrol just went with them. Oh well some more well spent tax money.NAA also necked down a 380 to 32 for a pocket gun.Why so many things to pick from my head is spinning.Time for a rocky mountian high.

I really like the Glock 32. The 9mm is so much cheaper to shoot which is good and you can get basically match it with really hot ammo. However I still love the .357sig.

Are you saying with Hot 9mm Ammo, it will match the performance of the .357Sig ??? Surely that's not what you're saying.

If you are willing to shoot +P+ through your 9mm then yes, you can equal the .357sig. You can find 9mm +P+ in the 1,300 FPS neighborhood with 124 grain JHP.

The .357sig in the 125 grain Gold Dot load shoots 1,375 FPS.

Not much difference IMO.

Is that an 8" barrel?

Link to advertised claims, please.

Browning Hi Power MK111, 4.6 inch barrel------------1330 fps
Beretta 92F, 4.9 inch barrel-------------------------------1304 fps
Glock 19, 4 inch barrel------------------------------------1296 fps

https://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=119

There are other companies but Buffalo Bore has the pistols listed above with their ammo.

Will it spoil the fun in saying that 9mm equals the .357 sig if I point out that Buffalo Bore has the 125 gr .357 sig listed at:
Sig. Mod. 229, 4 inch barrel - 1,430 fps (567 ft. lbs.) a full 100fps faster than any of the 9mm loads, including from a 4.9" barrel.

I see this argument all the time: a strong .380 acp is the same as a weak 9mm, .38 spl +P is the same as a weak .357 magnum from a short barrel, .40S&W is the same as a weak 10mm, it goes on and on.

If you max out the load, .380 will never equal 9mm; 9mm will never equal .357 sig (or magnum) and .40 will not equal 10mm.

I'm not here to argue, just pointing out that 9mm with a +P+ is basically/almost the same as .357sig. I am a fan of the .357sig so buy one of those. However if you do not reload and you plan on shooting a lot of FMJ then the 9mm might be a better choice.

P.S. A bad guy will not be able to tell the deference between 1300 FPS or 1450 FPS. He will be dead :ehcapt:
