Photobucket Image Hosting

So I'm being told that Photobucket has gone to some new member format and it's going to cost something ridiculous like $40 a month for your pic hosting. I do not know this to be true or not since I use Fully Driven server to host my pics rather than an image hosting service.

If indeed this is true, and PB accounts start getting closed this means we may be losing lots of pics and have broken links.

Heads up all you valued members who post our favorite porn, if you have pics on PB please save them and update your threads accordingly to avoid broken link images in our threads.

Nothing like finding an old thread that interests you to find all the pics are gone. So please update and host your pics here or another imagine hosting service and update the links.

It is likely you may need help from a mod for editing old posts. Just hit the Report Post button and request our assistance. And be patient because if there is alot of threads that need modified, it could take us some time to get to all of them.

I've been on Photobuckets Facebook page and there are a lot of upset people. Some people use PB for business purposes either on their blogs or website and are being told to cough up $400 or their links will be trashed. Kinda holding their photo's for ransom.

I use Imgur a lot. So hopefully none of the pics I've posted will go away. That is until Imgur pulls the same stunt.

Yep, cuz I've been able to verify it is true. So I'd pull off any photos you want that are in your photobucket that you don't have backed up onto a hard drive somewhere if you want them.

Here's the NEW Terms of Service and the price. If you want linking to your pics, going to cost you $400 a year.

Types of Accounts, Pricing and Limits

Visiting : There is no cost to visit the Site or to register as a Member.
Free account : Each individual Member gets one free account that provides 2 GB of free storage or space available for your original photo files, or videos under 10min. The free account does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting. If a free account Member exceeds their Content Limit, their account will be immediately suspended and they will need to become a “Paying Member” (defined below) in order to continue accessing their account. You can upgrade to a Plus account at any time.
Ad-free Account : The Ad-free Account offers Members the ability to use the Site without seeing any third party banner advertisements when logged into your Ad-free Account (note, viewers of your images within Photobucket will see ads unless they, too, have Plus accounts and you will continue to see Photobucket offers and announcements). This account level is available for $2.49 / month, payable by the Member on a monthly recurring basis.
Plus Account : The Plus Account offers several paid options that may give the Paying Member more storage, bandwidth, 3rd party image hosting, image linking and/or other services as outlined below. Once and during such period of time in which you subscribe to and pay for a Plus Account, we will consider you a "Paying Member." Please note that all Plus Account subscriptions are billed annually at the commencement of the service. Photobucket may also offer a monthly billing option for its Plus Accounts (see terms and restrictions, below).
Available Plus Account Plans : Photobucket offers the following Plus Account Plans:
o Plus 50 Plan: 52 GB of Storage for $59.99 / Year. The Plus 50 Plan does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting.

o Plus 100 Plan: 102 GB of Storage for $99.99 / Year. The Plus 100 Plan allows for unlimited image linking but does not allow 3rd party image hosting.

o Plus 500 Plan: 500 GB of Storage and unlimited bandwidth for $399.99 / Year. The Plus 500 Plan allows for unlimited image linking and unlimited 3rd party image hosting.

Wow!

I certainly sympathize with photobucket for giving this fine service and not being paid for it.
But the only plausible use for a service like this is 3rd party hosting.
When I heard it first I thought it would be chepa like maybe 40 bucks a year.
but 400 dollars a year is altogether different issue.

Too bad. I will lose a lot of nice posted pics on forums
