Who Here RV's?

Do we have any RVers here? Motorhome? 5th Wheel? Tag Along or pup tent? This is something my wife and I (mostly me) want to do when we're able to. Been looking at 5th wheels and something to haul it with. Problem is, I'm sorta tall and finding a shower I can stand up in has been a challenge.

But I'm interested in what you are using. So post up some pictures of your rigs and where you've been.

Still waiting to win the lottery

I'm making plans to do something even with my limited funds. I have a half ton pickup and there are half ton towable 5th wheels available. I'll do something like that if I have to. But when I win the lottery (positive thinking), The RV experience will be taken to a whole different level.

What like Miami, or Gainesville Fl. where the first 2 weeks of class at UF we have people from all over the world trying to learn how to drive. Seems like we are educating the scum of the world here to be our enemy's. My RV has 2 wheels.

My idea of an RV right now is a M139A2 either 2 1/2 ton or 5 ton Military vehicle. The nice thing about that vehicle is the box on he back has a generator and that could come in hay on long trips. Only problem is the fuel consumption of Diesel engines, but hey at least I know that if it breaks I can fix it.

I've always heard and believe it since I had a great Uncle that had an RV for many years, was a member of the Good Sam club and all of that, but the best 2 days of owning an RV is the day you get it, and they day you get rid of it.

The cost of the RV, the fuel cost or an RV and the cost of the maintenance, it's been proven that traveling in a NON RV vehicle and staying in hotels is much cheaper in the long run. I know, that takes the fun away. I do know a family that does this, and they do have camping gear too as far as tents and such, so they mix it up a bit and do motels and camping without the expense of an RV.

An older retired couple that were my neighbors for years, had a Class A coach for years. They sold it and bought a 5th wheel and crew cab dually pick up to tow it with and said it was much cheaper to go that route. When they traveled, they parked the 5th wheel and set it up, then had the truck to go away from the campsite, like down to the river or to the casinos' They seemed to have liked the 5th wheel idea much better. Of course it was a fairly nice trailer with a couple of slide outs and was quite roomy once they got where they were going and set it up. Downside to that, if you're going boating, then you can't tow your boat.

This is the direction I am leaning. The expense of a 5th wheel is cheaper, cheaper insurance, tags, property tax etc.. And when you get home, you can still use your tow vehicle for running around town.

A class "A" RV gets parked when you get home and sits there until your next trip. Same with a Class "C". Another nice thing about a 5th wheel is when the tow vehicle needs service, you can usually do that locally and not have to find a dedicated RV service place.

A 5th wheel tows better than any other RV (research, not experience). I saw a video where a fella was saying the 5th wheel does better than a class "A" as far as stability. Side winds and semi's passing don't affect it as much as other RV's. My wife being a nervous rider would appreciate this.
