Imitation shotguns with a laser in

At agricultural shows I have come across a type of imitation shotgun used for target practice :: it fires a low-powered laser beam; the target "clay" is strong plastic covered with reflector corners, which send the laser beam back to a laser detector on the gun. What is this device officially called?

I find that those "guns" are confusing; after starting on a real shotgun (during a scuba diving holiday on the Scilly Isles), and learning to allow for windage and the time while the shot travels, I must forget that and aim straight at the target.

To me, that device seems to be a good start for someone who intends to shoot with not a projectile gun but a raygun - - - except that in the real world there is no such thing as a raygun.
